Techno-Economic-Societal Sustainable (TESS) Development Training in Sri Lanka
As an urgent priority, this project seeks to make a significant contribution to waste management education in Sri Lanka. By creating new interdisciplinary programs and restructuring current programs in Sri Lankan higher education institutions, student-centered programs with a greater emphasis on employability can be created. Two new master's programs will be developed In addition, two bachelor's level programs will be revised. To achieve the greatest possible impact, action will be taken on several fronts, including the establishment and revamping of courses, teacher training workshops, digital learning, increased recruitment of female students, and collaboration with industry, inclusion of local municipalities as associated partners, and intensive dissemination and exploitation activities.
These combined activities will increase HEI capacity in waste management, provide advisory services to municipalities and businesses, raise the institutions' international profile, and develop the capacity of project staff to conduct high-quality teaching and research. Future graduates will be prepared to address Sri Lanka's waste management concerns, enhance living circumstances for the common population, and create new jobs. This corresponds to institutional and national requirements, European priorities, and UN Development Goals. The project team was put together based on their knowledge and interest in these issues. Experts in Business Management and Engineering have been brought together to provide a more holistic approach to the waste management problem.
